Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Last Friday night we headed out for Desh's first Fresno Grizzlies game. Desh loved the sights, sounds and smells and even managed to stay awake and remain happy (for the most part) past his bedtime.

On a side note, we've finally found a solid that Deshy likes to eat! He is loving watermelon right now, just like his Dad.

Six Months!

Our sweet little guy is 6 months this week. He is 15 lbs. 15 oz and 26.5" long.

He is such a happy and loving little boy. He loves a party and any excuse to stay up late. But he is sleeping longer at night (yay!), taking longer naps and staying awake longer in between. (Longer is good.)

Deshy has started eating solids. So far he has eaten pear, banana, avocado and watermelon. The only thing he's liked so far is the watermelon in the mesh bag, but he didn't spit out the avocado so I think we'll try that again. We put it in front of him on his high chair tray tonight and let him go to town. More of it ended up down his front than in his mouth.

Deshy is always happy. He loves to see new things and to touch EVERYTHING. He loves swimming and taking baths. He loves playing airplane with Daddy and being tickled and getting kisses on his tummy and neck. He can sit up all by himself for a few seconds if propped properly. He is starting to get up on this hands and knees and move back and forth. He can scoot backward on his tummy by kicking his legs. He is really good at pulling his toys closer to himself. Yesterday, at his 6 month appointment, his pediatrician asked if we had child proofed our house yet. And our response was: Already???

I guess we'll be anchoring the bookshelves this weekend.

 Love that little boy!

Okay then, let's try something different....

Yes, I've become one of those moms who takes a million pictures of her child eating and thinks every single one of them is adorable and has to share them. At least I limit them to our blog so that only those who truly care will see them.

The pears weren't a success the first time or the second time, so this time we tried banana. I mushed up a fresh banana until it was a slimy goo and this is what happened.

This again????
Why do they keep doing this to me?

Someone help me!
This is where Desh gets the heebie-jeebies....
We were cracking up at this point.
And then out it comes.

Once we cleaned him up and removed his plastic bib, he was SOOO happy!
Not sure where to go after this. I guess we'll just keep trying and retrying until it goes in and stays in.

A Special Visit

Ken's aunt and uncle were in town from Maryland this week, so we packed up and headed over to Grammy and Grandpa Motschiedler's. We made BBQ pizza (yummy), were treated to Aunt Valeetah's special chocolate chip coconut bars (swoon!) and had a great time visiting.

But first we had to make a special trip to the Farmer's Market for fresh ingredients!

The First Bite

I put it off as long I could, but finally we decided to face the inevitable.....solids! We chose a fresh (steamed and pureed) asian pear from the Farmer's Market.

Don't worry Deshy, we have leftovers! Yum, yum.

Just hanging out

Scissors are further than they appear....

And of course, he goes for his foot.

Foot Fetish

I couldn't resist taking some pictures of Deshy right after his bath on Saturday evening.  No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get him to remove his extremities from his mouth! Oh well, he's still adorable .

Just a trim, please.

It was decided that since Ken was going in for a haircut, that Deshy would tag along in hopes that Louis Vargas would cut his hair too! Louis couldn't resist (even though he does.not.cut.kids'.hair.normally!). Thanks Louis, for taking the "Orphan Annie" look off of our little boy.

Here he is, reading a magazine, waiting for his turn.
Stripped down and ready!
 Hi Louis!
 Snip, snip.

Such a good boy! (Daddy hasn't had his haircut yet.)

 Foot distraction.

All done! (The best haircuts are the ones that aren't noticeable. You look great! Did you have some work done?? Can't....quite....put....my....finger on it.)
