Memorial Day 2012

The night before Memorial Day, Grammy and Grandpa came for a visit and brought Pepper! Of course, Deshy had to take her for a walk (Pepper that is!). Grammy and Grandpa had just gotten back from a long, relaxing trip to Hawaii and we were excited to see them.

The next day, we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Marshall's for a Memorial Day celebration.

After swimming, a yummy bbq, ice cream and pink....I mean red...cookies, we all participated in a life-sized game of Angry Birds.

First up was Team number 2 to arrange boxes "shoulder high" and stack the pigs for Team 1. Look at how proud Team 2 is of their arrangement.

First up: Brave Brooklynn....

And the crowd goes wild!!!! (While spinning a pinwheel.)

Then its Team 1's turn to stack boxes. Don't they look mean??? (Is it just me, or do the teams look unbalanced to anyone else?)

Mighty McKay from Team 2 takes aim.... (Is that Ken's head sticking up above the boxes?)

Next up, Mad Maddie.....

Even Awesome Ally took a shot (although I look more like I'm water skiing!)....

And the crowd goes wild!!!

It went like this......

And like that.....
A few more times until someone shot a bird into the bush and we spent the rest of the afternoon looking for it with rakes, gloves and flashlights.

And the crowd went wild!!!!

Fifteen Months!

My baby is growing up! I can't believe it. He's such a little boy now.

He loves to be outside. He loves to listen to music. He loves dancing and singing. He loves water, taking baths, playing in the sink, loves his inflatable kiddy pool, filling up and dumping out containers of water, and swimming at Swim America. He enjoys his swim lessons finally: can float on his back, jump off the wall, swim to the wall, put his face in the water and the best thing of all....go down the slide. He loves it.

Deshy loves other kids. He loves books and will always sit and read a book with me or by himself. He loves anything that lights up and he loves light switches. He opens the garage door every morning for Daddy then closes it once his car has pulled out. He gives kisses and 'loves' (which is when he puts his cheek against whatever he's loving). He loves all animals, real and stuffed. He has no fear when it comes to the mascot characters that roam around at events.

He's not a big fan of driving in the car which means car rides have turned into me tossing toys and food to him in the back to keep him happy.

He goes to bed at about 8pm and sleeps until around 6am. He just started taking 2 and a half hour naps in the middle of the day, it was previously two 1 hour naps. I hope the new schedule sticks and we're down to one nap a day.

He can open and shut doors now. Yikes!

He can do a forward and backward tumble (with help), run, and ride his toy car all by himself. He loves to throw balls and drive his little cars around. He can stack blocks and screw the lid on his baby food packs. He loves fruit, especially strawberries, and muffins and pasta and veggies.

He is talking and can say: Mama, Dada, tickle, ow, no, hot!, teddy, yeah, bye, Moooo, woof, Pepper (Grammy's dog), meow, bubbles, can snort like a pig, and sign for 'more'. He understands most everything I say to him. He follows directions. When I tell him to put something away or go get something he usually does it. He knows where his eyes, nose, ears, mouth, teeth, tongue, toes, feet, hands, tummy, belly button and hair is. He can brush his teeth.

Deshy is a strong-willed child and likes to do things on his own terms. He takes his time when he's faced with something new and will take it on when he's ready. There is no forcing this kid to do anything. I'm told its a good trait to have, and now I know that we take things slow and let him decide when he's ready to do something.

He's a beautiful little boy (if I may say so, myself) and he makes our home a fun and happy place to be.

A Happy Easter 2012

This year Deshy was mobile enough to participate in all the fun Easter activities. We pulled out our bunny ears and had ourselves a hoppin' good time.

Typically, I try to limit the amount of images I put on my blog because I know there are only a select few people who actually enjoy looking at different angles of Deshy over and over. But dressed in his cute Easter outfit, the pictures showed how happy and playful he was, so I couldn't possibly edit!

Is it the Easter Bunny?? No....better! Its Grammy and Grandpa!!!!

A cute basket of goodies for Deshy!

MUAH!

Everyone got in on the fun.

Twinsies!

Our cute bunny family.

Story time. And then bedtime.

The next morning, Deshy woke up to find that the Easter Bunny visited our house!

He went straight for the stuffed bunny.

But then spotted the See's Candy left for Mama. Deshy now recognizes the white box whenever he sees it.

Silly boy.

See 'Cheeeeeeeese!'

So serious.

On Easter Sunday, we headed over to Grandma & Grandpa Marshall's. Grandma had a fun new Easter globe that played music.

Shake it again, Grandma!!

Then the Ryan Marshall's arrived! Picture taking time!
Bub's eyes were half closed, let's try again.....

Definitely not a good one, let's try again...

Ryyyyyyy-AN! Let's try again....

Okay, we're done. Did anyone else notice that McKay's face didn't change in any of them???

It's the girl's turn! A beautiful picture on the first try!

Mesmerized by the fan. Cool off those pink cheeks!

Uh oh, the fan got a little too close!

Its egg hunting time!!

Do you see any eggs???

There's one!

Go get it!

Here's another!

Taking a break.

So much FUN!!!

All in all, we had a very happy Easter!
