A Night at the Theater!

Desh's first time at the theater was quite an adventure. We went to go see his cousin Madison Marshall perform in 101 Dalmatians. She of course stole the show!

Desh enjoyed time before the show visiting with his cousins and showing off his new 'do. But as soon as the lights turned out and the show started, he let out a huge wail! There was no calming him down. I quickly ran outside with him. It took some coaxing but I managed to calm him down and rock him to sleep. A bit later Ken joined me and after Desh slept for a bit, we hung out on a blanket on the grass. Desh was so happy to be outside he begin to laugh.

I managed to make it back inside in time to watch Mady Moe's amazing performance. She's a natural and I'm sure there will be many more productions for Desh to watch....when he's older.

First Haircut!

Desh was born with a lot of hair. Over the last few months, it has lightened up but gotten longer. So the decision was made: Desh was getting a haircut. My mom brought her scissors and took off a little on the ends, just enough so that he no longer looks like a crazy guy just escaped from the mad house. We left the length so that it still has the same personality. Now we can focus on his sweet face instead of the craziness around it.

Master of Tummy Time

I'm very proud to say that Desh is now able to hold up his head without plopping down on his face. No more grunting and protesting. He is a big boy now and enjoys Tummy Time and reaching for his colorful toys.

Hot Friday Night

One of my favorite things about this time of year is going to the Farmer's Market. Last night was the beginning of the Old Towne Clovis Farmer's Market so we packed up the boy and headed that way. We met up with my cousin Caralee and her two cute kids and also ran into a few friends. While the kids danced, Ken and I hung out and people watched. Desh was happy to be out on the town and showed his excitement by sleeping the entire time.

What we weren't expecting was the heat! By the time we got home, Desh was a sweaty little boy so we stripped him down to let him cool off.
That night we received a package that we'd been waiting for. Some will hate it, some will love it. We love that its a little unexpected.

The First Laugh

Yesterday, while holding Desh in my lap, I started to watch a video of a Marshall Christmas filmed in 2005 that my brother had posted online. He dubbed the "Tequila!" song on it and as I started to play it, Desh stuck out his bottom lip and started to go "mmmmmmmmmm" in protest.

I had to laugh but turned it off to watch at another time. After that I had the song stuck in my head, so later on while playing with Desh I started to sing it to him while wiggling his arms and making him dance. To my surprise he let out a giggle! His first one. It was music to my ears so I did it again and got another giggle. How I wish that someone was there to witness it. I texted Ken and told him to hurry home. But the giggles were done for the day.

This morning Desh woke up at 5 am (which he usually does) but then wouldn't go back to sleep (which he sometimes does) and the three of us found ourselves laying in bed talking and playing. Next thing we know, with a little prompting, Desh was laughing again! It was the most beautiful sound! I know someday soon we won't have to work so hard to get a giggle or two. That is, at least until his teenage years.

My First Mother's Day

I had a very special first Mother's Day. We spent Saturday night with my mom and family eating BBQ and playing games. Sunday morning, Ken made me a yummy breakfast and gave me a beautiful card.

Desh surprised us all by taking a two and a half hour nap and then we headed to the nursery to pick out my Mother's Day gift: A young lemon tree to grow with Desh.

We finished up the day by having Ken's parents over for dinner. It was a wonderful day and made me so grateful for my happy life.

Three Months

Mr. Desh is 3 months. He's so grown up all of a sudden. He's becoming a little boy and his personality is growing! He is talking and smiling and looking all around. He is becoming interested in toys and has become fascinated with his plane mobile that hangs in his bedroom. He loves his momma and daddy and grins when they sing to him. He does great at Tummy Time (finally!) and can hold his head up the entire time. He has also discovered his fingers and hands and cannot keep his fists out of his mouth. This causes quite a bit of drooling especially when he's hungry or tired. (I think this may be the beginning of bibs.) He's pretty predictable when it comes to "eat, play, sleep" (which I love!). Although he's not sleeping much more than he was a month ago. His hair is getting lighter but its still out of control (maybe even more so - in fact, more so). His highchair has been assembled and he's finally big enough to sit in it. We're loving every second of this little guy's life.

A Special Trip

Desh's little cousin Macy Marshall was getting blessed so we had to fly out for this special event. It was Desh's first flight and he did such a great job. Desh slept during take off and landing. A fellow passenger commented on how quiet he was! Such a good traveler.
When we got to Oregon, Desh got to meet some cousins for the first time. They loved playing with him and carrying him and singing to him and tickling him.
And then we got to meet Macy Marshall. She was so tiny and cute!! She sure did make Desh look like a big boy.
Javier and Desh were twins!
We ate breakfast at the Water Ripples Restaurant with Chef Marissa. She named one of her recipes after Desh! Check out her blog: water-ripples-recipes.blogspot.com.
We celebrated Macy's dad's birthday.
The crazy "boys" decided there wasn't enough going on in the short weekend so they built a deck.
Just in time to BBQ!
We made a secret spontaneous stop at Dairy Queen and scarfed it down before going in for the party.
Macy looked beautiful on her big day!
So did her mom. And her dad.
Picture time!
First the Websters...
Then the Marshalls. Who invited that guy???
Wouldn't be a Marshall photo shoot without some silly poses.
We won't say who wore tennies to the blessing.
Grandpa Time
We spent a day at the Wooden Shoe Tulip farm. It was beautiful!
Proud Parents.
Then it was time to fly home.
And of course, Desh did great.
