Well, I never did get around to doing his 8 month pictures or stats. I guess we'll call his Halloween costume pictures his 8 month pictures. And I'm a little late in posting these pictures.
Actually I had planned to trim his hair, give him a warm bath so that his hair was clean, curly and fluffy, and put on his cute new outfit for his 9 month pictures, but time got away from me and pretty soon the end of the month was quickly approaching. So yesterday, after he had eaten lunch (thrown his food on the floor) and I washed him up (took off his long sleeve shirt and rinsed his hands and face in the kitchen sink while he screamed) he was left looking sweet and adorable in his onesie, sweat pants and messy hair. I grabbed my camera and his sock monkey and managed to get some adorable pictures of the little guy.
Deshy is 9 months!! And he is doing so much!
Deshy says "Mamma-mama-mammamammamama" especially when he's hungry or tired. He says "bah" and loves to screech and babble. Deshy has mastered crawling, pulling himself up, "cruising", and sitting down from the standing position. He still loves to explore and climb. He loves to get himself into small places so that Mommy has to pull him out while he kicks and screams. One morning, he managed to fall out of his walker while trying to reach a toy he had dropped on the floor. I was in the shower and Ken was still in bed. I saw it happening in slow motion and while yelling: Deeeeesheeeeeeeeeeeee! I jumped out of the shower mid-lather and caught him before he smacked headfirst into the tile. Ken appeared mid-save in time to whisk him away while I rinsed (and repeated).
Deshy has definitely hit the "separation anxiety" stage. He is wary of strangers and new places. His grip tightens on my sleeve when we're in a new place until he gets comfortable. The last couple of times I've left him with one of his grandparents, he didn't do so well so we're going to work on that (meaning more outings for Mama without little 'D').
He's become a better napper and takes two 1.5 hour to 2 hour naps a day. Occasionally we'll still get a 45 minute nap. He's also (practically) sleeping through the night most nights, with a wake up at about 4:30 after which he resettles himself and goes back to sleep. (Most nights.)
Deshy loves books and has mastered turning pages. He loves music and shaking his head. He loves things that make noise. He loves Cheerios and anything else he can put in his mouth on his own. He LOVES bubbles and chasing after them or just sitting and watching them fill up in the air above his head. He loves stuffed animals and loves to cuddle with them. He loves being outside in the sunshine watching the treetops blow in the wind. He has suddenly started to hate bath time and screams when his hair gets wet. He hates getting dressed but helps by putting his arm through the arm holes. He hates sitting still for diaper changes. He loves peek-a-boo and chasing after balls and rolling toy cars. He's gotten really good at pushing the ball back when I ask him to. He seems to be understanding directions such as: Go get the ball. Push it to me. Where's Daddy? and No. We use the last one when he's going after something he shouldn't. Usually he responds by laughing. He's a little cuddle bug and loves to lay his head on Mama and Daddy.
He has 2 and a half teeth now. Two on the bottom front and one coming in on the top front. He loves to sink his little teeth into anything and everything he can get his hands on (including my leg). He's a little ham and has mastered his fake laugh. When he's being silly, he'll snort.
Overall, he's a pretty happy little guy and we are loving this age. He's become a little person with a sense of humor and we're looking forward to whatever comes next.
