Snapshots of Deshy

I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures I've taken recently with my phone. 

These days the only time I can get Deshy to cuddle is right after his nap, when he's still sleepy. He'll lay his head on my shoulder and we rock while I softly sing to him. Occasionally he'll lift his head to look at me and give me a little smile, then lay it back down. I love this quiet time with him.  

When he completely wakes up he is talkative and wiggly. Lately, he's been trying really hard to sit up. Sometimes, if we prop him just right, he can sit all by himself.

I have something else exciting to share. I'm afraid to type it in fear that I may jinx it, but I can't help myself. Last night Desh slept 10 hours straight! I couldn't believe it. I'm so proud of him for this latest accomplishment. I thought I'd never see the day. Now if only I can get that much sleep in one night! Here's hoping for another good night!

Grandma is turning 82 (or is it 28???) this Sunday, so our family got together and celebrated in Gramma B. style.

Five Months!

I can't believe my little guy is 5 months old this week! He is such a busy little guy! His biggest news is that he's now sleeping in his crib, unswaddled and without a pacifier! He started rolling over so he now sleeps on his tummy and he's sleeping better than ever. Deshy loves to be tickled, he is especially ticklish on his neck. He has discovered his feet and loves to chew on them. Desh is laughing all the time now. When he's really tired he shrieks and screams and sounds like Mariah Carey on a bad day. He has discovered his toys and loves to hold things and touch things and put everything in his mouth. He spins his toy wheel on his jumper and watches it go round and round. He loves to play Patty Cake and touch faces and give hugs. He loves to be "zerberted" all over and to be "thrown" up in the air (but not too high, Daddy!). He is getting ready to sit on his own. His legs are really strong and he can stand on his own for about a second.

This is the first month that Desh noticed his sock monkey more than he noticed me while I took his picture.

What a joy he is!!!

Water Baby

This weekend we took Desh swimming for the first time and (despite his expression in the pictures) he loved it! He was kicking and splashing and had a great time.

For this year's John Marshall Family Reunion, we met up in beautiful Prineville, Oregon at a big house overlooking the lake.

We did crafts,

we ate

we hiked,

we lounged,

we had Talent Night,

we celebrated Father's Day,

we played games,

we went to the lake,

we blew bubbles,

we created memories,

we made s'mores and played games by the fire,

we did a scavenger hunt,

and we spent time together.

Can't wait for the next one.
